Our story

Ausino Projects is a manufacturing company based in Gladstone, Queensland, with extensive know-how in design, engineering, manufacturing, system engineering and programming. Established in 2018, and working alongside parent company Premron Group, we have strengthened our capability in the mining and resources sector and take pride in our innovative and experienced approach to engineering design and manufacture.

Managing Director, Michael Whelan, brings over 30 years of involvement in Central Queensland’s engineering sector and is excited for AUSINO Projects to continue proudly contributing to the state’s mining industry through innovative design and advanced research. Our team has recently expanded to include specialists in underground electrical engineering, programming, and automation - enhancing our capability to deliver cutting-edge solutions tailored to the evolving needs of the mining sector.

  • Our operations are located in Gladstone, Queensland, and are housed in our regional state-of-the-art facility. Additionally we have 2500m2  of industrial land for project laydown, storage and assembly of equipment.

    We’re excited to announce that construction is underway on our brand-new, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility - designed to expand our capabilities and elevate the quality and efficiency we deliver to our clients.

MEET THE TEAM

  • Michael Whelan

    With over 25 years of experience in the Power and Coal Mining industry, Michael brings extensive expertise, including 15 years specialising in Materials Handling Technology across both Australia and Europe. As Managing Director, he oversees all business operations at the Gladstone workshop and project sites.

    Since beginning his career in 1995, Michael has developed a deep understanding of innovative industry technologies, while also building strong leadership foundations and long-standing business relationships. His commitment to operational excellence and quality is a cornerstone of Ausino Projects’ reputation and continued success.

  • Ary Santony

    Ary joined the team in 2023, bringing with him 8+ years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer across both Australia and Indonesia. His diverse background spans Structural and Mechanical Design, with a strong foundation in both the manufacturing and construction industries.

    Ary has held key roles in Project Management, Design Engineering, and Site Supervision, contributing to the successful delivery of complex engineering projects. His broad skill-set and international experience make him a valuable asset to the engineering team.

  • David King

    David holds a Heavy Fabrication Trade Certificate and brings over 25 years of local experience in the fabrication and welding industry in the Gladstone region. He has worked alongside Managing Director Michael Whelan for over 15 years on a range of projects, and in 2022, he progressed into the role of Workshop and Site Supervisor. David is a highly experienced tradesman and a dedicated team player, known for his leadership, reliability, and depth of industry knowledge.

  • Kahlia Higgins

    Kahlia joined the team in January 2019 as an Administration Trainee while undertaking a Certificate III in Business. After successfully completing her qualification in 2020, she transitioned into the role of Project Support – QA/QC and WHSE, during which she completed an Integrated Management Systems course covering ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards. Kahlia now oversees the Third-Party Accredited Management System, ensuring compliance across Workplace Health & Safety, Quality, and Environmental standards. She supports both the manufacturing workshop and site installation teams through the development of WHSE and Quality documentation, including Manufacturer Data Reports (MDRs). Kahlia plays a key role in day-to-day operations, providing essential support to engineering and workshop teams to ensure the consistent delivery of quality and project assurance.

  • Danni Whelan

    Danni has been an integral part of the team since 2018, playing a key role in developing, implementing, and coordinating the day-to-day operations of the business.

    With over a decade of experience in similar roles within the industry, Danni ensures the smooth and efficient running of the team. She manages financial and operational reporting, and is responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and human resources across both the engineering and manufacturing departments. In addition, Danni oversees daily office management, providing essential support that keeps business operations running seamlessly.

  • Casey Boyce

    Since joining in 2021 as a Trainee undertaking a Certificate III in Business, successfully completed in late 2022, Casey has become a key member of the administration team.

    As the first point of contact at our facility, Casey provides a warm and professional welcome to all visitors. She is responsible for a wide range of administrative tasks, including purchasing and expediting across the engineering and manufacturing departments. A true all-rounder, Casey also supports HR functions, accounts, and document control, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations within the business.
